Whether you realised a passion for motorcycles at an early age or you have only recently awakened to the benefits of two-wheeled transport as an alternative to the rising costs of travel by car, we can imagine that you will be keen to make a start. Working out the route through training which will be best for you, however, will seem to many to be more complex than mastering the art of riding and passing the necessary tests.
Thankfully, Saltire Suzuki is here to guide you on the right route to take and offer the most extensive range of rider training available in Scotland. Indeed, its courses are held in such high regard that it attracts learners from across the Central belt of Scotland and beyond.
Among the rider training options available at Saltire Suzuki is compulsory basic training (CBT), a course devised by the Driving Standards Agency which assumes no prior knowledge and is conducted as an on-going assessment. This is the first step for all motorcyclists where topics covered include advice on safety equipment and clothing, basic care and maintenance of the motorcycle, correct use of the controls and ultimately, road safety skills and techniques. The aim of our instructors is to make your experience of the CBT a safe and enjoyable one.
Of course, CBT isn’t the only rider training course available at Saltire Suzuki. If you want to remove your L plates, carry pillion-passengers and make use of the motorway network, you could opt for a full license under the direct access scheme, which would allow anyone over the age of 21 to ride any type or size of motorcycle. Alternatively, the A1 light motorcycle test, would allow those over the age of 17 to ride a maximum 125cc motorcycle; or the A2 restricted motorcycle test, for those over the age of 17 who may want to ride a motorcycle with a bigger engine capacity than 125cc while accepting that the engine’s power output must be restricted to maximum 25kw/33bhp for two years (at the end of which, the license would automatically become unrestricted and the engine’s full-power can be restored).
If you’re not sure about which option is right for you then check out our licence options page – and when you know what you want make sure you book with Saltire Suzuki for the best rider training available.
IMPORTANT: All full-license training courses are delivered on an ‘extended’ basis (in much the same manner as car driving lessons) ensuring that candidates are only put forward for test when they are adequately prepared. This method also allows the cost to be spread out over the duration of the training period.
