If you’re 21years old or above and want the most direct route to a full license which will instantly open the door to the limitless choice of motorcycles available on the market you need look no further than the Direct Access Scheme (DAS).
Often referred to as the ‘Big-Bike License’, successful candidates will have completed some 30hrs Post-CBT training during which time they will have acquired the necessary riding and road-craft skills to allow them to safely progress from a 125cc machine to one of around 500cc. Indeed, it is the defining nature of the Direct Access Scheme that (for those who are 21yrs and above) the final tests must be undertaken on a motorcycle producing a minimum power output of 35kw (46.6 bhp). As with all other full-license options, a Theory Test pass certificate must be obtained before the Module 1&2 Practical Motorcycle Tests can be attempted. Success on a manual machine will give rise to a full Category A entitlement comprising both manual and automatic whereas success on an automatic, although allowing access to equally powerful machines, will restrict the holder to automatics only.
Before booking your course at Saltire Rider Training, we would like to stress that we have made the decision to conduct these courses on an ‘extended’ basis in much the same way as candidates approach the car driving test. In this manner we can assure our customers that they will not be put forward for testing until they are adequately prepared. As a result, our customers can ‘pay-as-they-go’ allowing them to begin the training process without having to first save the funds.
So why wait?
